The idea for Thyim first came to our founder, R.M., over five years ago after she was stranded on Interstate 96 in Novi, Michigan. She’d called a roadside assistance provider that promised help within 60 minutes. But four hours later, still waiting in the middle of winter and now out of gas, she thought, “I just wish somebody, anybody, could bring me some gas!”

Years later, in August 2022, R.M. spoke to a 92-year-old woman who had been left waiting for roadside assistance so long that she had an accident, and was too embarrassed to ask for more help. R.M. was instantly transported back to that cold, exhausting day on the highway, with no food, water, or access to a bathroom.

These moments became the spark for Thyim. Because getting help shouldn’t take hours. And it shouldn’t feel impossible. It should be safe. Fast. And just around the corner.
